Rat folk have appealed to me since Warhammer's Skaven and their warp magics. In Burning Wheel I have wanted to know more than what the lifepaths tease at. In the different incarnations of gaming rat folk, they seem to me, be playing by a different 'rulebook' than other 'races'. Where are Roden from? What do they want? What's the Society?
I began running a Roden series of one-shots at conventions to explore playing with an all Roden group and what those 'stories' reveal. The one major standout I've experienced is the sense of community in a Roden game is stronger than other fantasy scenarios I've run. Players have actively invoked the nest as motivation for some actions. Players have anchored many Duels of Wits or drastic actions around their view of what's best for nest life.
I had no plans to do stretch goals. I want to hit my delivery date with the best book I can. However, there are some obvious, low-impact things we can accomplish as we approach the 3x funding. I'll expanded the content to include sorcery and art magic from the Roden context. I'm also talking with the Father of Roden and I think he's coming on board to say somethings about the Roden!
I've updated the KS with details of the poster map, it'll be 11x17 laminated, 100# matte white cover stock.
Take care Kickstarters!
